Hi everyone! I’m excited to share today’s blog post written by a good friend of mine, Lindsey LaRue. I met Lindsey in college where we were both a part of the same sorority. Lindsey is an extremely talented photographer and is known for her ability to capture the most beautiful moments on camera. I’m so thrilled to share with you her guest blog post, dedicated to helping couples come up with some fun date ideas for the Spring! So without further adieu, here it is!
Happy Spring, my friends! I’m Lindsey, a wedding and anniversary photographer for heartfelt couples, and I’m thrilled to be joining you today with some sweet ideas to celebrate the new season!
Oh, Spring. You woo me gently with your delicate promises of warmth, growth, and beauty. Though we’re only a few days into the season, warmer temperatures and beautiful flowers will be upon us soon. Though I spend much of this season fiercely battling my allergies, I can’t help but be excited to see the trees come back to life and begin spending more time outside. With the new season comes new opportunities to get outside and celebrate the beauty of nature and what better way to celebrate than with the one you love? Grab your significant other and head outside with one of these Spring date ideas.
BUILD SOMETHING – Buy a kit at your local hardware store and build something together to celebrate the warming temperatures like a bird feeder or windowsill planter.
TAKE A WALK IN THE RAIN – Spring inevitably holds its fair share of rainy days, but there’s nothing that says you can’t take advantage of it. Channel your inner “Notebook” vibes and take a romantic walk together! You can even use it as an excuse to buy a new pair of rain boots.
PICNIC – Pack a basket with bread, cheese, and fruit, grab your favorite blanket, and go enjoy a picnic in the park. You can spend the afternoon reading and lazing away or bring along a Frisbee or kite for a more active date.
BUCKET LIST – Take advantage of the warmer temperature by going to your favorite restaurant and eating on their outdoor patio. Bring a notepad and use the time together to create your Ultimate Summer Bucket List for 2017. It’ll be here before you know it!
ICE CREAM PARTY – Pick up some vanilla ice cream and favorite toppings at the store, then have a contest to see who can make the best ice cream sundae (the good news is that no one loses!). If you are feeling really adventurous try out some gourmet toppings and mix-ins. Some personal favorites of ours? Old-fashioned vanilla ice cream with blackberry balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top. Chocolate ice cream with homemade salted caramel folded into it. And, lemon sorbet with rosemary simple syrup pressed in.
YARD SALE – Wake up early on a Saturday and go shopping at all the yard sales that will begin popping up around town. Then, celebrate your thrifty finds by going out to breakfast or brunch together.
SPRING PLANTING – Visit your local nursery and pick out some pretty flowers to plant together. A touch of spring color may be just the pep your landscape (or windowsill, if you don’t have a yard) needs!
GARDEN TOUR – All the flowers are just about to bloom! Look up the nearest botanical garden and wander around during its peak floral days (most gardens will say on their website what the peak days are expected to be).
